WHAT IT'S LIKE LIVING WITH STRANGERS FOR A WEEK | UNI#2

Quick little disclaimer, this was written on 19/09, I just haven't gotten round to posting it until now (nearly a month later!)

So today, 19/09, marks one week of living away from home and it has been weird, to say the least. As you know, I have moved away to University and I actually moved away really early as my uni doesn't start till the 26th. This is because I'm living in a house instead of halls, which I am extremely bummed about but tenancy obviously starts much earlier on. Thus, I have been living with four other complete strangers for a week.

The difference from living in a house to living in halls is that in halls you are surrounded by all different types of people all the time. However, in a house I've pretty much been secluded to my housemates 24/7. Luckily, I have some of my close friends down the road but it has still been hard as I believe we all just need a bit of space from eachother as it takes time to adjust to everyone else's way of doing things and their habits.
At the moment, it is pretty boring as I don't have a job, uni hasn't started and I am seriously missing structure in my life so I've been stuck to these four other people for the past seven days feeling as if I have no sense of reality and I'm kind of obsessing over the smallest of things. Living with strangers in my situation is pretty weird and the only way I can think of describing it is like being in the Big Brother House; one day feels like a week.
Everyone seems really lost and scared to say things, which I guess would get better as the year progresses but people feel as though we should be doing everything together when I feel as though it should be the opposite and you should only do things you want to do.
Don't get me wrong, I really like my housemates but I just feel as though we're all in an 'i don't know what to feel/ do kind of mood,' and I think it's because we're not around other students who are in the same situation, like we would be if we were in hauls.

As you're reading this I'll probably be right at the end of my Freshers which started on the 24th so hopefully I would have met some new people and seen some new faces and have a slighter firmer grip on reality. Coming two weeks early to university has made me feel like I am on holiday and I really can't wait for uni to start so I can meet some new strange people.

So that's what it was like living with strangers for a week. Things have definitely changed since then - if you want an updated version, please let me know!

Have you ever lived with strangers, what was it like?
